If you didn't know Footnoted is perhaps the first financial blog to get promoted to the big leagues. Morningstar just bought it a couple months ago. And I think they made a smart choice
you can read about the buyout here

what ye olde Footntoed would basically do/does is dig up deep dirty secrets that companies don't wish you to know. The site's author Michelle Leder would find some real gems (e.g. Dillard's family's habit of using company funds to buy yachts etc)

Pretty much a one trick pony site. But sometimes that's a good thing. In the interwebs it's better to be a master of one than a jack of all trades. It's an environment thatfavors specialits over generalists due to the unprecedented access specialists now have for their knowledge. And there is no question that Leder is extremely good at finding hidden details and reading between the lines in filings.
They also now offer a footnotedpro service for filings that apparently don't merit attention on footnoted.org. I haven't tried that yet, but I imagine it is a good service based off their long history of reliable, timely and thorough research. It claims to offer perhpas more actionable information such as potential merger insight etc. It had better since it costs 10 large ($10,000.00) per year!

while often entertaining I don't think footnoted.org needs to be read everyday unless you geek out of that sort of thing.
I think It's biggest value is to would be investors who want to check up on a potential holding to make sure managemnet is on the up and up. It can be tremendous time saver. Unfortunately the lack of ticker symbols and basic search negate some of this value, making it tougher to find old footnoted articles.
Still one of the OG blogs that is still at the top of it's game. Even if it's not a must read for you it's a must know.
Mad respect and two thumbs up for Leder!
