Entertaining articles here
There are a number of articles here covering a wide range of topics in addition to finance. They even have a sports section with latest breaking headlines. This is a good place to browse headlines quickly if you only have a few minutes to catch up. Be sure to check out the “Clusterstock” headlines for good reads on US finance.

The Future of Business Media (Tabloid anyway)
Henry Blodget has really bounced back from his disgraced days in the 90's at Merrill Lynch.

http://www.marketwatch.com/story/henry-blodget-finds-a-willing-accomplice-the-press That important caveat aside I think this time he has created a real winner

What TBI is is a essentially a financial news/white paper aggregator with snarky commentary.

you want to know why Hovde is short General growth properties? You could read their 30 page white paper or you could go to and click through ten slides that TBI breaks it down into quick bites.

I often will come across news/ideas at TBI that I don't see anywhere else. (e.g. theri recent series on Senegal)

even better yet it's well designed and have several easy to peruse subsections (the green sheet, clusterstock etc). Lately though they seem to be republishing some external content which can be hit and miss.

While they definitely have a strong free market POV (although oddly they seem to syndicate Megan McCardle AND Paul Krugman - what) the writers are definitely outside the matrix if you will so they just won't feed you the bull case.

That enhances their value tremendously. On the other handthere seems to be little internal consensus on some issues (say peak oil) but it's all presented as TBI's opinion so it can be kind of confusing sometimes.

The x factor is the staff's obvious youth. While most have at least some street background I don't think any of them other than Blodget were active in the 2000 crash. Which can lead the reader to wonder how much they truly know. On the other they seem much more open to new ideas/sources than traditional media is and there is a perceptible energey and excietmnet about the product from its' producers. While CNBC is messing with buffoons like Dennis Kneale who berates blogs, TBI utilizes them as sources.pretty easy to see who is going to have to play catch up here.

I really think this site has got potential to be a financial news newmedia equivalent to a TMZ type site. I suspect we will be seeing TBI around for a long time to come.

This is a daily read for me. Fun, quick, informative, definitively a useful place.

Short & Sweet Articles
Gotta hand it to these guys as they designed their multiple sites to integrate very well...their related content and reading are off the charts and while they clear prefer quantity vs. quality, their short articles are usually pretty entertaining and always make their point. Nice light commentary, wish more people in online finance had such a sense of humor
