This was my first foray into Tim Sykes' world. I've been following Tim and most of the other speakers on Twitter for a few months now and I was truly excited to attend a conference that promised so many different educational angles on trading. Needless to say I was NOT disappointed! Tim, SangLucci, LX21, Kunal and all of the speakers each shined light on their own niche areas of expertise. They all have their own unique strategies and ways to make money, yet they all had a certain similarity to them as well. I will be taking back a lot of extremely useful information, and I was glad to meet some interesting people at the conference as well.
I know the hip thing to do here is give a 5 star rating to thank Tim and his team for putting together such an amazing conference, but he's got plenty of those already and the point of this is also to give constructive feedback to make next year's event (which I will certainly be attending!) even better. So... a few constructive critiques:
1) I expected a lot more actual live trading. With the exception of Tim himself, none of the other speakers actually dabbled in the live markets while presenting on Monday. I would have particularly liked to have seen Sanglucci do some live trading.
2) Some of the breaks were a little longer than they should have been. I think this had a lot to do with Saturday's party being ridonkulously off-the-chain and people were hurting on Sunday and Monday, but I feel like the schedule got pushed back a few times too many.
3) LX21's presentation on trading psychology was excellent, however I really wish he would have went a little bit into his actual trading strategies. I know he doesn't want to give away tricks of the trade, but a few examples of setups and exits would have been very helpful.
4) While the speakers certainly represented a broad range of the industry, next year would be even better if we added successful forex traders, as well as futures (oil, agriculture, metals, etc.) traders and perhaps even a hedge fund manager or professional poker player into the mix.
To be clear, my criticisms are minute compared to the overall value, education and experience I received at this conference. I would recommend it to anyone looking to grow as a trader, or just to learn about how various types of traders play the game. I want to thank Tim Sykes and his entire team, as well as all of the speakers, for putting together an amazing 3 day event!
