Like Sam Spade, the Stock Gumshoe tries mightily to do the right thing. He carefully studies the "teasers" that we ALL receive (if you really never get spam, you must not have your own computer!) and determines which particular stock or option or speculative idea the spammer proposes to reveal if only you will subscribe. I suppose his "Thinkolator" is accurate, but that is not truly all that important - Johnson is an undeniably talented writer, and is also "laugh out loud" funny.
I am not one of his "Irregulars" - subscribers to his paid content. It's not very expensive, though - just $50/year. It's just that I have often found that good, free content is not indicative of the quality of the author's paid-for articles.
He rarely endorses any of the touted companies that he detects, even though he sometimes claims to own some shares of the promoted stock. Initially, I thought that this was kinda odd. But "upon further review" I see that if he were to recommend buying the pumped stock, to maintain his ethicality (hell, is that even a word?? Forgive me, it's late!!!) he would need to tell his readers when to dump it - and that is just not his business model. For that kind of info, you'd best go follow Tim Sykes.
SG is a refreshing change from most of the free schlock offered up online.
