Great Resource
Great for scanning & news information. A lot of times news will hit my equity feed before it hits yahoo or other financial websites. A must just for it's powerful scanning ability.

Everything you need for scaning
This is a great tool if you want to day trade. I make my watchlist using EF and it is usefull especially when scaning for otc's. You can also scan real time during the trading hours. It higs a new day high ticker, or 52w high, or if it has bigger volume than usual. It also has a streaming news tool so you can see what news come up premarket and act upon it. You can make multiple watchlists, set diferent streaming filters.

It really is a must have if you are serios about day-trading.

Too Expensive & with bad customer service!
(1) Too expensive to use each month

(2) Based in Canada - so extra charges on credit card for US customers

(3) Charts are only basic

(4) Goes offline to often - (almost impossible to use after hours or weekends)

(5) Bad customer service (look like a small company - so may be one or two people work in the customer service - painfully slow response)

----- >>> (Rating: D -)

There are plenty of other tools which are better priced and provide more value for the money.

Here is a link of some charting tools:

Trial looks great so far
Currently in trial period for Equity Feed and only just learning the features. There are some good tutorials on the web but starting cold it won't look like much to an inexperienced trader and EF doesn't seem to have any of their own tutorials. But once I got the hang of a few basic scans I realized how impressive this tool can be.

I'm currently using ToS for charting and level2, but people say ToS level2 is not as good as Suretrader Pro or ETrade Pro, so I opted for Equity Feed level2 also. As others noted, Equity Feed isn't cheap at $180 a month for all US equities, and it costs another $20 a month for their level2 feed. During an earlier trial period I had with ETrade Pro I thought their level2 was great and their charts are probably the best around - better than either EF or ToS. But I'm really only looking for one paid service, so if I had to choose between Etrade Pro and EF I would definitely go with EF and keep ToS for charts since they're adequate and free, and occasionally I will make a buy through ToS anyway.

The real reason I'm interested in EF is scanning. Interactive Brokers has some pretty good scanners for their clients, but I'm told that EF is much more comprehensive and has endless customization options - not sure if I need all of that or if IB would suffice here. Also I know some people who get by using Stockfetcher.com for about $25 a quarter. Stockfetcher lets you write your own code into a filter box, which is great for those familiar with how to do this. If EF can do this and much more without making me become a computer science whiz then I'm sold.

Finally, Tim Sykes is marketing his platform Stockstotrade.com as an all in one scanner, news feed and trading platform but as of this writing it sounds like they are still working on a lot of the features. It's also not cheap, but there is a special price for Challenge students (he does not publish the price broadly). Those who have used it says it feels a lot like Equityfeed, but Tim says his custom scans are pre-programmed into it. That sounds interesting but I have not had the chance to compare the two.

Would love to see a side by side comparison of all four - EF, IB Stockstotrade.com and Stockfetcher.com.

EF, are you listening?

Expensive, but WORTH IT
Wow. I use just the OTC version, and despite the cost, it's worth it. The streaming news on penny stocks is amazing. The charts intraday suck to be honest, but I don't use this for charts.

A required tool for trading
I use Equityfeed's "Market View" for my day trading.

It is surreal to have the ability to take every stock listed in the NASDAQ/NYSE/AMEX/OTC/Pinksheet and not only filter by price, volume by share and dollar, # of trades, etc., but also having the ability to be able to take and list them ascending and descending based on the ticker, # of shares traded, $ volume, percent change, last price, bid & ask price, etc..

The data is instant and real-time, on-par with Think or Swim's L1 and L2 data.

If you've ever wondered how traders online find stocks to play the following trading day, Equityfeed is the answer. Having added stocks to my own personal watchlist then going to Twitter and seeing other reputable traders online chat about the same stocks I found on my own is a great feeling.

Equityfeed is a requirement to becoming self-sufficient when you're a day trader.

It takes away the requirement for visiting tens of other sites trying to find stocks to play.

Equityfeed is truly a million things in one.

Very fast real-time filtering software
I`ve used EF for about two years, mainly for their scanners & realtime filtering which is the fastest i`ve seen. If your`re a daytrader and wants to find out which stocks are moving in the markets, this is the software you need.

They also offer level2, news filtering, watchlists & tradeconnect which lets you trade directly from their software. Although, only a handful of brokers are connected to this service at this time.

They offer a 30 day free trial so i highly recommend you try them out.

It is very pricey, but a good product.
If you are a technical trader who trades off of things like moving average crossovers, support/resistance, and multiple candle patterns, than this is a great product for you. This is due to the fact that you are alerted of these things in real time. However, if you are not a pure technical trader, than there are cheaper ways to go depending on your strategy.

Great real time alerting, but a lot of unrealized potential
Cons:

no weekly, monthly charting

previous day on chart unviewable from 0000 est to 0515 est

overall lack in charting features; indicators, scripting, etc.

no options

Pros:

real time watch lists that auto update

use of dollar volume which I haven't seen in any other program

good intraday scanning capabilities (using % in 5 min, 10 min, etc)

There is no reason you shouldn't try the trial. A month of Equityfeed is certainly worth $20 dollars, especially if you day trade of trade frequently. Then it is just a matter of does the program pay for itself in the long run. If you trade penny stocks frequently it is even more essential. Their OTC stock list is updated faster than any other I've seen. The one thing I love about Equityfeed is their ideas are fantastic. I would be in heaven if they merged with Telechart or TOS. :)

Thanks,

J
