My never ending quest for a reliable daily swing trade newsletter lead me to Alan Farley's page on TheStreet.com. I cannot believe he used to charge $100/mo for this service. The current price is $30/mo which is still not worth it, in my opinion. This information should be made available on a free site and used to promote his books.

Alan Farley wrote a book called "The Master Swing Trader" 15 years ago. I've found that the trading strategies used before the era of HFT are essentially worthless (go figure many of these old school experts found their home on TheStreet).

The market moves a lot faster and is completely unpredictable now. It's like comparing Isaac Newton's understanding of physics to quantum mechanics.

By subscribing to Farley's service, you'll be entitled to one article published after trading has closed for the day. In this article, Farley will tell you about the day trades he made. This is my first issue. Why are we paying $30/mo to hear about what you did during the day? That information is completely useless at 4:30pm. Most day trading services will post their trades on Twitter for free.

Some of the articles will include a couple of charts with basic notes like trend lines and support/resistance levels. No technical studies like MACD, Stochastics, RSI, Momentum, CCI, etc.

The market commentary in his articles is well written and he will give solid advice. Lately his best advice has been to sit on the sidelines. I take issue with this because we aren't paying money to be told not to trade. The whole point of paying for expert advice is to be able to profit during all market conditions.

His long trade ideas are always going to be a day late at least. I ran a backtest of all his "Long Candidates" from June, July, and August. To make it easy, I just used the open price the next morning after the article was published. In every instance (except STZ) you would have lost money. In some cases, a lot of money. He recommended RMTI on July 13th and it is down almost 34% at the time of this review.

Fortunately, TheStreet offers free trials on all of their products and you can cancel without an issue by calling them up. Unfortunately, I think this is the last TheStreet product that I will ever try.

Decent
This newsletter is decent in giving you a overview of what happened in the market last day.

Alan provides you a set up stocks with support and resistance levels for swing trades. And mentiones which stocks he bought last day or when he sells them.

this newsletter is good if you are a intermediate or advanced trader , just looking for ideas and stocks. Not good for new traders or traders who want to follow Alan's trades since you will only get his buys and sells when the market opens , and its possible he sells next day .

Overall i think this newsletter is overpriced for the content it provides, if this was priced less than 30$ a month then it would be considered a good newsletter for its price , but priced above100$ a month , this is overpriced and you can find better newsletter elsewhere or perhaps even free information on the web.

Can I see Alan’s Track Record
The sales pitch on Alan’s website is all nice and dandy, but I’d like to see his track record for the last several years before I consider subscribing to his services. Start posting your VERIFIED trades on profit.ly and I will consider signing up. Thanks!!

Farley a good guy
Farley is a good guy and his book is quite informative. He manages to distance himself from the Jim Cramer crapola on this site which is a positive.

If you are interested in swing trading, holding positions for multiple days, you could do a lot worse than this product for education.
