I've been wanting to write a quick review for, if not a shout out to, the BBC. Today marks a good reason why to do so.
American journalism has been mocked for quite some time by foreigners, especially those who visit or move to the states. I'm not a news junkie, but I visit a good share of links. CNN, once probably the most trusted name in news (and when I say news, I just mean reporting what happened, not adding fluff, judgement, spin), has added personalities that would be more fitting in a sitcom studio audience than reporting news on CNN.
The BBC reports world news. That's what it does. I don't know of any controversial, much-hated, strongly opinionated attention-whoring ratings-junkies like you'll find on other networks, but I also don't "watch" the BBC, but instead catch it online. It has a good website and seems to employ true journalists. They're not the US Weekly of news, not a gossip rag, just a proper news agency bringing you life, not the rantings of a madman.
But since the BBC isn't just news, I also love it for this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0b7mwTK564o
Yes, MTV should burn in media hell for what it's done to music, and what it's done to itself as a network. Or at least change your fucking name.
