Sometimes useful
John is a well read guy who knows how to write down his opinion. I have found his newsletter entertaining read with lots of data underlying the opinion. Not always right, but a better track record than most economists and more importantly, the newsletter is free. I'm a longtime subscriber just to see Johnny boy's take on soooo many various topics. Unconventional wisdom on the big issues for investors
Mauldin is a great source for penetrating insight you won't get anywhere else on the big picture stuff going on in the world. He travels widely, thinks deeply, and writes well about the major issues that affect money and investments. His weekly e-letter is free but would be well worth paying for.

This guy runs with the biggest of the big - accredited investors with over 1 million to invest. Runs Altegris Investments, LLC.
