Been a long term subscriber.
The picks can be a bit boring though. That being said, his picks very rarely thank with the market. Been on this one since 2006 I think. They sure did tank in 2007-2008... but other than that, he is a smart guy. He got away from mining and natural resource a long time ago and switched to a theme closer banking.
That's one of the only letters I would recommend to friends who are clueless about the market and that don't want stock that jump all over the place. Make no mistakes, he will bring some nice decent winners most of the time.
The author of the letter makes a strong effort to educate his readers as well and he is far from afraid to take his distance from all sides: either the gold bugs or any other groups having strong beliefs. He is a thinker first and a stock picker second. A rare mix.
This letter comes on special once in a while for like $60 or so. It's the closest thing to a steal at this price.
Caveat: the only thing I do not agree with the author is his tolerance for the downside. He is a long term investor so he only uses mental stops and can tolerate a 20-25% loss on a stock before cutting it lose. I pull the trigger way before that.
All being said, the porftolio is very tight and he has very, very few losers.
Now that you are warned, if you do encounter a loser in his portfolio, feel free to cut it lose yourself, don't wait for him is you want to preserve capital.
