The following is my review on Investors Undergrounds’ Textbook Trading and Tandem Trader DVD’s. I would like to mention that although I am a yearly subscriber and purchased both DVD’s in one sitting; I do not receive any compensation or perks for writing this review.
A little about me; I have BSc in Industrial Engineering, I have been working in the Oil & Gas Industry for the past 5 years. In the early 2000’s I started trading and lost my shirt one day. I called it quits back then and not until recently did I jump back in the game, slowly, very slowly.
Once I decided to get back on the saddle I tried several newsletter services a month at a time until I landed in IU. If you are new to trading and need guidance and a place to learn, I highly suggest becoming a member. Try it for a month, but don’t just log into chat, go through the webinar archives; they are there for a reason. The amount of knowledge and what you can learn is priceless.., if you are serious about it. If IU had been around when I first started, I would be sitting on a good pile of cash right now.
After a month’s service I was convinced that I wanted to join for longer a longer period of time, even though I knew I might not be able to engage every day. Still, I wanted to be able to have access to the learning material inside IU for at least a full year. That being said I purchased both DVD’s and a yearly subscription late Nov. 2014. As of today I have watched both of them from beginning to end once. I am now revisiting them as time allows me.
Textbook Trading provides you with a foundation. A tool that every trader should have. Nate goes through the basics of why stocks move, supply and demand from a trading point of view; and through this you are able to interpret why the stock is going up, down or sideways. Understanding this is critical to a trader yet so many of us take it for granted. The DVD walks you through basic setups, the emotional reasoning behind washes, panics and breakouts. You learn terminology that is required if you intend to trade the chat and also goes into some tricks of the trade if you’re going the OTC. Just the OTC chapter alone would have saved me what the DVD was worth. If I knew then what I know now… The entire DVD has been exceptionally well broken down into easy to understand sections which Nate covers in depth. He is clear and elaborates in terms that most anyone can understand.
Tandem Trader is an even more in depth continuation of Textbook Trading. The layout, presentation and overall content just blew me away. There are companies out there with a stock price above $50.00/shr that wish they had someone that could make a 45 minute presentation for their company with the structure and content Tandem Trader has. The visual content and narrative of events as they take place by Nate are incredible. It’s as close as you are going to get to live trading and having someone, (Nate), explain what’s going on, why it’s happening and what to anticipate. Trading is all about anticipation and reacting. Tandem Trader truly lays this out for you. Much like in Textbook Trading the DVD goes through basic setups, float rotation, live Level II and OTC’s, but like I said before, with a great visual approach and more in depth. It also goes over how to scan for the next day showing you what Nate looks for.
Both DVD’s go over brokers and their importance, and other tidbit’s of information that are meant to educate you and develop your trading skills. Honestly, even the retail price for any of the two is very cheap. Why do I say that? Because after watching them once, I knew exactly what I had done wrong that caused me loose so much money years ago, and I knew that if I they would have been available back then, my bank account would be looking better nowadays. I am not saying that once you watch them over and over you will become impervious to losses, but I am certain that if you truly apply what you learn through them, the odd’s will shift to your favor.
Thank you Nate and Cam for taking the time to put these two projects together.
Best,
DH
