How to Survive as a Smaller player in this industry
This is a great story about one man's success trading the market. In this book you'll find out a little bit more about how DePorre used his limited capital to make fast move into and out of the stock market mostly riding the trends of the big boys and exiting before they took their money off the table.

Not the most entertaining read but if someone had it laying around it might be worth it. Overall it wasn't horrible but there are better books out there for your time.

Just stay away from his pump and dump website
The prior review gives a very accurate description of the book and it's value so I won;t go further on that topic.

I did want to take the opportunity to warn people away from his paid services on his website. For starters, be aware that your standard membership ($99 a month I think) gets you absolutely no interaction with Rev at all. Maybe one or two posts a week in the chat rooms but that is it. He is only available in the premium Shark Tank, which is a really weird area where he and his long time trading buddies chat about nonsense all day long.

Most importantly, Rev endorses a guy named Samit on his active traders board. This guy is a real piece of s$#t. He blatantly pumps and dumps small cap stocks on his fellow board members. It's as cheesy and obvious as it gets.

Stay away from this guys garbage...

Common Sense for the Modern Investor
This book was like a pep talk from a coach before the big game. It doesn't focus so much on specific strategies but it does provide you with a shot in the arm before going out and trading stocks. The story of James DePorre is really interesting and is one of those "how to turn lemons into lemonade" type stories. That alone makes you feel that if he could become a successful trader, anyone can.

However, his actual trading advice is rather generic. He basically talks about how you have to be quick and nimble in today's markets. Like a shark, you continually have to be moving around finding the next good trade and quickly getting out of losing ones. Don't buy and hold. Don't hold on to losing positions out of some sort of loyalty to the company. Invest where there is action and movement. None of what he says is exactly new and revolutionary. As the title suggests, he uses the shark analogy quite a lot.

One good thing about this book is that it doesn't sound like he is trying to constantly sell you something. However, it lacks any specific strategy which means that you will have to go to his website, sharkinvesting.com, and sign up for one of his services for more details.
