TDI podcasts are handsdown the best markets podcast out there today.
You aren't going to get a whole lot of ideas here, but what you will get is what the business networks should be offering (but aren't). Namely an intelligent analytical discourse on current events and trends in the world marketplace. I'll listen to his podcasts when I'm doing nightly scans and busy work of such nature. As I said not an idea factory, but a good use of time to understand the forces at play that may affect your potential plays.
The Show usually starts with a 5-15 minute monolgue of Andrew Horowitz's thoughts on the issue/issues at the moment and then he engages a guest in a Charlie Rose like manner for the remainder of the show. Typically runs about an hour and airs weekly. Guy is like clockwork.
Unlike most internet podcasts operations it's very slickly produced. Even to the point he has advertisers now. Which makes a huge difference, the sound quality is good and it has a more "trusted" vibe to it as a result (perhaps that's not fair but that's life).
Most importantly Andrew Horowitz apparenty has (what I continually discover) the apparently extremely rare skill set among traders/investors in that he knows how to talk in media. I can not tell you how many vidoes I won't watch or podcasts I'll turn off because the speakers, while in many cases knowledgeable, have zero public speaking skills. It is simply amazing how many people get in front of webcam and simply lose the ability to communicate effectively. They'll ramble, meander, stammer, skip things, forget things, repeat themselves, clear their throat eighty thousand times and generally waste your time. I know it's harder than it looks, but far too many podcasters focus on quantity over quality. Big mistake.
Not so with Andrew, this dude knows how keep information flowing in a coherent manner. He's very knowledgeable in mnay diverses aspects of the market on top of that He has some
[email protected] good discussion skills. While he tends to invite guests he seems to respect (and thus doesn't challenge anybody like a reporter might) he is very good at getting them relaxed so they will actually open a bit and not just talk their book. You'll hear stuff on here you won't here anywhere else in fin media.
That's a big reason why I think his show is continually gaining prominence. He's starting to land more and more marquee Quests. He already regularly entertains the best of the blogosphere but he's also starting to pull in some B-listers from the business networks. I
But there is a blog here too, although I bet most don't know it as the podcasts are so popular. It actually has decent and more tradeable ideas in it, they can be hard to find though as it's chopped up under four subheadings. It's also pretty pithy and nothing you can't more in depth and/or timely elsewhere.
That's cool though the podcasts more than make up for that.
Good stuff!
