John Thomas the "trader" has several publications, but I'm sticking to just the Mad Hedge Fund Trader. I subscribed to Diary and while Thomas is clearly an experienced pro, this publication can be highly annoying and deceptive at times. He will discuss a topic and typically point out a few investments to watch for in the future. These are clearly not buy recommendations, just "keep your eye on these" reports. Six months later he'll crow about his report on the companies or investment area mentioned in the report while my reaction is "wait, you never actually recommended buying those companies". The Diary itself pretty rarely gives actionable investment advice yet wants to take credit for mentioning investments.
In addition, he recycles stories and articles on a huge scale (and never mentions that this story was published six months ago or a year ago). All in all I found MHFT to be somewhat educational, but highly annoying for the reasons mentioned. Some of his other publications appear to be geared to actual trading but are very expensive so it feels like MHFT is almost a promo for the other service(s).
