I became an HSBC customer in 1997 and have remained with them ever since. Their fees are reasonable (compared to their competition) and they fake customer loyalty well (which is all one can ask for...a bank that cares just doesn't exist!). Ive heard ordinary things if you use them as a normal customer, but if you're a Premier customer then nothing is too much trouble. Direct toll free numbers anywhere in the world for issues. I had a my wallet stolen in Hong Kong while their on business and the nibble fingered person (aka the
[email protected]!) spent approx. $5k in Versace. I phoned the bank when I realised my wallet was missing and they commented that I'd been having a very nice time there...well someone was, not me. I was have a crap day! They didn't bat an eyelid sorting it. New cards were waiting for me when I arrived back. I didn't even get the transactions show up on my card. Why it didn't show up much sooner on their fraud detection system is beyond me, but hey they sorted it so I don't care. I have free travel insurance and get tons of points that my wife loves to spend. There's separate Premier sections in the branches for personalised service and they link my international accounts so i can transfer money between accounts instantly (though the rates are a bit rubbish). All in all, very impressive.
