In the interests of full disclosure I am writing this review in response to a promotional contest sponsored by Topstep Trader.
My enthusiasm for Topstep Trader is honest. Topstep Trader offers a great opportunity.
Topstep Trader allowed me to start trading on a simulator in May 2011. I had never traded live before.
My first 4 week training period was free. In addition to the T4 electronic trading platform the company made its Squawk Radio broadcast available to me. The market broadcast is the voice of experience. I try to emulate the knowledge and the attitudes I hear there. The attitude of the broadcast is always positive. It makes the frustrations of learning to trade less discouraging.
The company also provides a chat room, called "The Lounge." Traders can make market related comments. Many of the traders in the program are experienced. The comments in the lounge are often insightful.
After the 4 week training period I graduated to the Combine--which is still a simulator, but required a $120 deposit. The price of the deposit has since been increased to $140 to cover added features the company is offering--such as the market psychologist.
The $140 deposit is refundable depending on trading performance. Each trader starts out with $50,000 in a simulated account. If the account balance is $53,000 after 4 weeks the deposit is refundable. If the account balance is $56,000 after 4 weeks the trader is eligible to be given a live account.
Each week it seems like several traders are taken live. (The number varies depending on trader performance.)
There are daily interviews with experienced traders--and one a week--the market psychologist, Dr. Andrew Menaker--on the market broadcast.
The company also offers additional training which costs more--one on one coaching from an experienced trader, and Intuitive Development Training with Ray Burchette.
I've taken the Intuitive Development Training and thought it was powerful and valuable.
The profit split for traders who are taken live is 60/40. (The trader keeps 60%) If the trader takes the IDT training the starting split is 70/30. (The trader keeps 70%)
If traders live in or visit Chicago the company encourages them to visit the trading floor of the Chicago Board of Trade. I toured the trading floor on 7-29-2011. The president of the company conducted the tour. I was interviewed on the market broadcast, and got to meet and talk to experienced traders.
I'm grateful for the opportunity Topstep Trader has given me, and I recommend them to anyone who was interested.
