I have been a member of IU chat since I bought the DVD at the end of April 2014.
My main interest was Nate's DVD, but in the process of buying it I was offered a month's free trial of IU chat. I ended up taking the year's subscription, and it's the best trading decision I ever made. These two products go together amazingly well for a novice wannabe daytrader.
Chat is VERY focused. Between 9am EST and 4PM there is NO off topic chatter. Pointless comments get a stern warning, and muted from their on. The rules are clear and if you take the time to read them there will be no surprises. This discipline and focus was the first thing that struck me. I have been a member of another very well known chatroom and frankly nothing I saw there made me ANY money. And that's what we care about right?
I came in to chat wanting to learn how Nate trades. His alerts in chat are very often actionable, but the guy is so quick it's better to look at the chat logs that are printed each night and check his entries and exits. Nate makes most of his profits in the first hour or so, so it's very important to understand these are the riskier trades. But if you take your time and start SMALL, you won't get hurt, and you will begin to understand these trades. Recently I have had a couple of trades where I have actually got in before Nate and out after. Definitely NOT saying I'm as good as him, but this is what studying the DVD and chat logs will do. You will learn to trade LIKE Nate. If you follow his alerts like a sheep you will be exposing yourself to too much risk, and possible being on the other side of the trade. Yes, morning trades can move that quickly.
So apart from Nate and the lack of noise, another positive in chat is the quality of moderator/trader in there. There will be familiar names in there from other chatrooms: people who owe more to Nate's trading than any other guru. These are TOP traders, who are also very humble and helpful people. Don't be asking them stupid questions and you'll get great answers. SO many noob questions are answered by the getting started section on the investorsunderground website.
There is a feeling of community in there too. There are people at all stages of their trading career, from complete beginner, to seasoned pro, so whatever you're going through, there is someone else who has experienced it. Nate always answers emails promptly. I'm convinced he actually has at least 3 pairs of hands, his multi-tasking is ability is pretty scary.
On top of all this there are other chatrooms too. One for swing trading, and another for sub-pennies, both run by experts. i don't use them personally YET, but it's great to know these resources are there for rounding off in to a more complete trader. You can open chat on your phone/tablet as well.
I honestly can't think of any negatives. If I had to be pernickety I'd say a few people get away with posting entries and not exits and vice versa but that really isn't a big deal.
If you want to reduce your learning curve MASSIVELY, IU chat is simply the best place to be. With trading you get out what you put in, but with these tools and lots of hard work and study, I feel like my trading success is a matter of 'when', not 'if', and if I screw it up it's MY FAULT!
