I have used this site on and off for a while now, it provides good information and I especially like that it is very organized compared to some other sites. The pricing is fairif you plan to use it frequently.

Great Fundamentals Based Newsletter and Web Site

I am a twenty year subscriber and use it extensively for the buy and hold base of my portfolio. The economic moat concept is unique to Morningstar. The website is excellent and they offer a section of online investment classes as well. Premium Membership gets you access to additional newsletters and guidance. I have been very happy with the long term growth I have gotten on their advice. Remember, this is a buy and hold newsletter, but I do think much of the information is valuable for active traders as well.

Morningstar primarily uses Discounted Cash Flow for their valuations, and the problem with DCF is that all the inputs are wrong, so the answer is wrong too. Morningstar was recommending Citigroup (and other banks) before it declined by about 80%.

Financial Planning

I've interned with a financial planner a while ago and this site has definitely helped me a lot! Morningstar has saved me A LOT of time on the projects that I was given. Ex: Allocating our clients money to funds.

Great research is done, very respectable, and I know a lot of other planners that use this site as well.

Oh yea Vanguard is very good too, check that out also.
