John is a well read guy who knows how to write down his opinion. I have found his newsletter entertaining read with lots of data underlying the opinion. The problem I had with it is that it is to rigid with the underlying assumptions - even though the facts change he sticks with the same forecast trying to search other data that would prove him right. Overall I must admit I learned a lot reading his newsletter and that is why I rated his newsletter with 4 stars.

Gotta Love Free Quality Work
Not always right, but a better track record than most economists and more importantly, the newsletter is free. I'm a longtime subscriber just to see Johnny boy's take on soooo many various topics. I wouldn't bet a dime on anything in economics because there is absolutely no edge, but its always interesting reading and you gotta respect the power of a newsletter with 1+ million subscribers. Met the guy in person too, very well spoken, articulate

Unconventional wisdom on the big issues for investors
Mauldin is a great source for penetrating insight you won't get anywhere else on the big picture stuff going on in the world. He travels widely, thinks deeply, and writes well about the major issues that affect money and investments. His weekly e-letter is free but would be well worth paying for.

John Mauldin
This guy runs with the biggest of the big - accredited investors with over 1 million to invest. Runs Altegris Investments, LLC. Specialty firm for the big wigs, but yet, he has a free newsletter that average joe can subscribe to. Gotta love that. He is a quintessential must follow for macro market analysis. I read his letter every week. He can often sound like a perma-bear, but he backs up his reasoning like no other. I actually think he knows the market and economy as a whole better than anyone. $$$. Wish he would run for president.
