Terrible web platform and support
I have had accounts with them before and moved them to another low rate broker. Unfortunately I have an IRA account which is actively traded and have run into T+3 violations because of unsettled funds. So now this account is frozen only to trade with settled funds. The only Brokers who will let you set up a limited margin account with an IRA to avoid T+3 violations are TD america and Interactive Brokers. There is no comparison between the commission costs between TD and IB which is much cheaper particularly if you are scaling in and out of positions. So I have to suck it up and reopen an account for my IRA with them.

They do nickle and dime you on data charges and non activity. They also have a ridiculous rotating coding numbers system besides your user name and password you have to put in to access parts of your account. It is totally unnecessary and time consuming.

Their supports is the pits. It will take you longer to find their support number than boot up your computer and place a couple of trades with another broker. They really don't want you calling them. I really hate this company but they are the only game in town as far as low commission allowing trading with unsettled funds in an IRA. My cash accounts will stay at my other firm.

Amazing broker. Can't go wrong choosing these guys!
I read a lot of reviews before choosing this company, and I am glad I did. Super reliable, great execution speeds, and I personally like the TWS.

2 negatives is that if you want to use tick charts, you can't with IB because they don't provide market data tick by tick. Secondly, you will need to use another charting software if you are looking to do more than look at the volume and candlesticks...

Good not Best!
Seems to be a trustworthy company and service is good.

A bit of a learning curve on the trading platform though.

However, customer service could be better.

good broker but pricey
Had an account with IB and like the platform fine.. they had good borrows for stocks.. or at least used to.. been having a little bit of trouble with that lately. Added up how much I was spending in commissions and it was so ridiculous that I closed my account. If you actively trade then I wouldnt recommend this broker.. there are plenty of other ones out there that are much cheaper... and just as good if not better

Horrible Broker
I've used IB for a year now and am done with this crappy broker.

Issues:

Trader workstation charts(their platform) has glitches that they refuse to fix (Volume displays incorrectly, price disappears randomly)

Their borrows are bad... they seem to have good borrows until you need them on a parabolic etc... and there are none. They also refuse to let you reserve shares.

Their charting software is a joke and they nickel and dime you for services that are free at all the other brokers, news feeds, pink/OTC, etc.....

They update their platform about once a month and they always break a few features. Last month they broke chart trader this month they broke alerts.... features I rely on, very frustrating when they obviously don't quality check new software before releasing it.

Customer service is none- existent if you call about a issue they create a ticket and nothing will ever happen, this is common practice for IB.

They do software update during the trading day.... this month for instance my account info was lost for 15+ minutes during a trade, meaning all shares I held disappeared I could not buy or sell positions. When I contacted them they said "oh that was just for a minute" REALLY????!!! You do software updates during the trading day that affects my trading???!! UNBELIEVABLE

Truth is IB couldn't give a shit about you the client. Find a broker that does, I will.

awsome
I had an issue about funding and transfer assets.I tryied chat and was very impressed cause the lady helped me all the way till i was done and working with the problem.I always review the comments on investimonials about CS sucks.On my expierence it was great and pretty fast.

i give 5 stars

Solid Broker and platform
Just solid!

The software trading platform is extremely powerful, but a bit tricky to use. They also have a web based trading platform which is not as powerful but extremely user friendly. The web based platform is convenient when away from your main computer.



Be honest, customer services sucks.

Wasnt all that impressed
They have everything you need (they offer everything) but im not sure its the right fit for me. I dont like being just another number. Plus their tools are OK at best.

I will probably look for a smaller DMA shop with some better quality trading tools.

see lots of complaints about their customer service, and in all fairness I have yet to call in. I usually just send an email thru the message center and have found they're quick to reply and answer my question. Executions are definitely top notch. I do not use their software, as I have L2 with a different firm but their web trader is fine for my needs and I do like being able to short cheap(er) stocks. Unfortunately one can not lock in a locate - it's first come first served and that truly sucks
